one thousand gifts {#541-601}

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith,
just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”

Too many little graces to even count this week, but I tried. God is so good!

541. listening ears
542. country ham sandwiches
543. jeans and knit sweaters
544. homemade afternoon passion iced tea
545. 24 ladies for dinner & lessons from mom on hospitality
546. so many sisters singing with granny
547. being greeted by a running child
548. washing dishes after a party, reflecting on what joy was experienced
549. taking time out for a “5-minutes” chai and cookies with nepali friends
550. buying birthday presents
551. running in the rain
552. the privilege of carrying everything to God in prayer
553. helpful library workers
554. the end of band season when everything starts to fall together and the music comes from the heart
555. raincoats, umbrellas, and out-of-control hair
556. working with mery and getting her lunch
557. praying for my ate with the promise of psalm 119:76
558. the attention game and logan’s face
559. washing dishes for a friend
560. getting to know more about people
561. looking through old pictures, seeing how kids have grown, and recounting God’s faithfulness
562. songs with lyrics that pierce the heart. (“You are good and there’s nothing good in me…”)
563. sweatpants + 4 layers of shirts + scarf & sharing fingerless mittens with clarinets
564. seeing friends unexpectedly—even if just for a few minutes
565. hoods
566. 18 cups of hot chocolate at mcdonald’s


567. being called a “gem”
568. dad’s homemade popcorn
569. starbucks being temporarily closed when i went to get mom a surprise birthday drink (= free cup of coffee!)
570. taking mom magee’s transparent pies to share instead
571. having my mom’s kids play me a song on orff instruments
572. being squished in a basement with my band family eating pizza and watching drum corps
573. a dozen red roses
574. senior night. a wonderful bunch of kids who were all freshmen when i started. awww.

577. hanukkah ribbon
578. band staff menchie’s run post-game + apple pie froyo ftw!
579. the traditional saturday morning something-about-starjazz text
580. amazing rehearsals with perfect weather. chills!
581. excitement and adrenaline
582. dirty rice, hashbrown casserole, and cream cheese corn. yum!
583. circling up and praying.
584. kids singing their show pre-warmup and post awards. MY FAVORITE!
585. marching in line together to duts
586. “salvation” played with emotion
587. warming up lindsey’s hands while waiting to take the field


588. hugs. hugs. hugs. because you don’t know what else to do. hugs.
589. hot chocolate from a massive pot
590. bus rides home. with singing.
591. God is sovereign over all! (And the sun will rise tomorrow if He wants it to!)
592. kids who delight in their personal achievements and experiences rather than what judges determine
593. impromptu speeches
594. forgotten God. the Spirit at work!
595. alarms going off at LCA at half-past midnight.
596. taking kerry home and heart-to-hearts in her driveway at one in the morning.


597. band kids.
598. dad preaching from luke 1 in october, prompting me to play chris tomlin christmas music on the way home from church
599. being accepted in the Beloved, blessed, and highly favored
600. writing to reflect on lots of things and clear my head
601. Christ becoming a curse for me {galatians 3:13-14}

Since reading One Thousand Gifts, I started my own journal of grace-gifts God blesses me with every day. I will spare listing all of them here, but I will try to share some of my favorites every Monday.
